Abdullah Mohammed and Akthar Shehzad hit superb unbeaten half centuries to get newcomers Abtec off to a bright start in the UBL Floodlit Twenty20 Cup at the Sheikh Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The pair came together at the fall of the fourth wicket at 125 in the 16th over and shared a 99-run partnership without being separated for their team to put up a challenging 224 on the board.

Wombats in reply could muster only 188 for five despite a 103-run stand for the third wicket between Haroon Ghaus (80 off 43 balls), the captain, and Azim Khokar (64 off 43).

Misbah Khan took four wickets for four runs from 3.2 overs to lead Ibsons to a resounding eight-wicket win over Al Faraa.

The ECB Blues were shot out for 83 but they made NMC, who scored 85 for five in 16.5 overs, work for every run for their victory.
